Welcome to the panel
The American Population Panel (APP) is a group of volunteer members who agree to participate in social science and health-related studies for research purposes. These studies are conducted by CHRR at The Ohio State University, a research center with 60 years of survey expertise and managing large-scale data projects.
To match panel members with relevant studies, we collect basic demographic information upon registration. Once a person joins the panel and provides their profile information, they may be contacted to participate in paid research surveys that align with their demographic data. Panel members may also be invited to participate in Mini Surveys, which are short surveys used for pilot studies, seed grants, testing survey questions, and student thesis projects. While Mini Surveys often include prize drawings as an incentive, longer surveys offer an individual incentive for participants.
Membership in the panel is managed internally by CHRR staff, who strive to maintain responsive communication with each panelist. Members are informed about the nature of the survey and its importance. The time commitment and compensation for each survey vary, and we prioritize the privacy and confidentiality of all panel members.
Any individual aged 18 years or older, living in the United States, is eligible to join the American Population Panel. Current panelists and prospective members can learn more on our Members page.
Researchers interested in using the APP for their studies and having panel members participate in surveys can find further details on our Researchers page. We also offer consultations to discuss the specific needs of your projects.
