Welcome to the panel
The American Population Panel, also known as the APP, is a group of volunteer members who agree to participate in social science and health related studies for research purposes. These studies are conducted by CHRR at The Ohio State University, a research center that has 55+ years of survey expertise and managing large data projects.
We collect basic demographic information from panel members in order to match them with a variety of studies. Once an individual has joined the panel and provided their profile information, they will be contacted to take part in paid research surveys as their information matches one or more projects. Members may also be asked to participate in Mini Surveys with prize drawings, which are brief surveys used for pilot studies, seed grants, testing survey questions, and student thesis projects.
Panel membership is managed in-house with the CHRR staff striving to maintain a responsive and personal relationship with each panelist. Members are always told what the survey is about and why we believe the research is important to undertake. The time commitment and payment varies with each survey and the privacy of all panel members is protected.
Any individual 18 years or older living in the United States can join the American Population Panel. For current members, and individuals interested in becoming members, you can learn more on our Members page.
If you are a researcher who would like to use the panel and have APP members respond to your project's survey, please review the information on our Researchers page. We can also provide you with a consultation and discuss the needs of your projects.
